Glenn's Pens

Pens of Note

My Montblanc Noblesse pens are part of my beautiful, but too narrow to use, collection. Everytime I use the pen it reminds me what an evolution pens have gone through in terms of their size.

Montblanc Noblesse

This pens was acquired in the 1980s and at the time, the Noblesse was a hot line. The pens were produced in a variety of finishes. I selected the gold plate as it just looked so eleant. I have read there were three different generations of Noblesse lines produced by Montblanc. The line was discontinued.

The first of the Noblesse pens were issued in the 1970. There was another line of pens at the time, the Montblanc Slimline and these seemed to go with those. The first line of Montblanc Noblesse pens were fitted with stainless-steel nibs. The second generation and came with a sold nib. If you are in doubt as to yours, check the nib, the gold nibs have 585 engraved on the top of the nib. The third generation of the Noblesse line had a different clip, described as a split clip. That clip design was used on other Montblanc pens.

Back in the 1980s I was taken with the sleek appearance of the Monthblanc pens, and in addition to the Noblesse pens in the VIP Line. Those pens were produced in partnership with the German pen manufacturer Mutschler.

I acquired a number of the Slimline pens also. Available in a variety of colours, they were available to drafting stores and came with gold-plated nibs - keeping the costs down.
