Here is a long standing pen store. I had received many positive comments on Bromfield Pen.
Quite a while ago, in 1999 on a trip to Boston I made sure to find time to visit the store. No disappointment. Being in Bromfield Pen -- Where the customer always write was a great experience. I met store owner Fred Rosenthal who talked about how the store has been in his family for over 50 years. Fred remembers being in the store as a kid when his father ran the business. Originally, the business included wholesale, but now concentrates on retail sales.
Bromfield offered one of the largest pen selections you will find. Not only are their limited editions, a wide range of current pen lines. There has always been a repair technician on site for pen restoration and repair. The store also carried a wide range of nibs, a full selection of inks as well as pen accessories.
In 2017 the store contacted me to provide an update, they were still selling and repairing vintage pens. The selection of modern pens had increased from when I was there.
Things change, and in 2021 when Fred Rosenthal, the owner of Bromfield Pen Shop, retired the store was purchased by Joost Appelboom, owner of Appelboom Pen in Laren, Netherlands. The shop moved a few doors down the street as the former building was scheduled to be taken down. I have ordered pens from Appelboom for a number of years and have always found the company very good to deal with.
I look forward to my next opportunity to be in Boston and see the impact of Appelboom on the store.
